March 19, 2004 Fun With Copyrighted Images I posted an image in my Dawn Of The Dead review, which is really a manipulated version of an already-existing image. But I couldn't help myself...I mean, it was just THERE. Here's the original image:
But, since I'm a horribly insensitive self-promoter, with a vague, basic knowledge of photo-editing software, I was able to cleverly change it to this:
I'm so clever. But what occured to me is this: anyone could do this (better, probably...) And I realized that you could have a lot of fun with it. For example...what if it WASN'T the end of the world? What if ol' Ving here was just a big sports fan?
But it goes even further than that. I mean, this is a publically available image. Couldn't Universal Pictures technically have an advertising blitz on their hands?
Think about it. This image could be an advertising GODSEND. Nike, Coke, McDonalds...the possibilities are endless. Even smaller companies could get into the game:
One could even work some serious media cross-promotion into this. I mean, arguably the hottest show on TV right now is "Survivor", right? And don't they do a lot of this sort of thing on that show...the signs, writing stuff down...plus the case could be made that Ving Rhames' character is a "Survivor" in his own right. Think of the possibilities!
Sorry, Jerri...the undead hordes have spoken.
